Ordering/Estimating

Estimating

To estimate accurately SCS will need a perimeter drawing of your project.

SCS CANNOT BID BY THE LIN/FT!

Please submit a perimeter drawing with the lengths of all your runs. Please include the estimated number of strands of cables and the lengths of all your runs.

Please note the size of the cable and fittings that you prefer.

Carefully read all of the cable, termination fittings and tensioning pages

Ordering

Step 1: Download and fill out  the SCS order form.

Step 2: Select the diameter and construction of the cable you will be using.

Step 3: Determine your termination posts. Remember, the cables have to be tensioned to 150 lbs for EACH cable. Standard cable spacing is three inches on center (You must not be able to pass a 4 in. code ball through the cables.) We recommend using 6X6 termination posts or block out 4X4 posts. The deflection of the posts can be dramatic when all the cables are tensioned. Your posts which lay in the field do not have to support the cable load.

Step 4: Select the termination/tensioning fittings of your choice for each run. Place the  fitting part number on the order form. Please download the SCS catalog. Place the numbers off of the catalog tables onto the order form in the appropriate slots.

Step 5: Calculate your assembly lengths by the measure to point (Click on the Picture) on the assembly page. Measure the length between the termination posts from fitting to fitting. Note: You are responsible for all measurements. Remember the old carpenter rule. Measure twice cut once!

Step 6: Count the number of cables . If the cables are used for infill on handrail they should be spaced three inches on center. Usually, if you have a top and bottom rail you will need 8 to 10 assemblies. Each horizontal strand must be a separate assembly with an termination fitting and a tensioning fitting. The cable cannot be laced back and forth.

Step 7: Review the nuts and bolts page and count the nuts, washers, acorn nuts, half balls, shims etc. you will need. If you are using the hand swage tensioning terminals we have tools available for rent for your installation.

Step 8: Call Stainless Cable Solutions for assistance ordering at 503-830-2123 or e mail us at max@stainlesscablesolutions.com. We will ship all orders DHL within 24 hours of your order!
